President and Founder

Brenda McCaffrey, Ph.D., is Founder and President of White Mountain Labs. She has 20 years of electrical engineering experience within the semiconductor industry, working for companies such as Motorola, Inc. and Brooktree Corporation. Dr. McCaffrey founded White Mountain Labs in 1999, based on the conviction that a systematic approach to highly technical “niche” semiconductor testing could produce clear data that would enable engineers to be successful in developing innovative products.

Dr. McCaffrey began her career as a device engineer in wafer fabrication at Motorola, Inc. and progressed to digital logic circuit designer. She then moved to Brooktree, Corp., where she designed several generations of standard cell libraries. It was during this time Dr. McCaffrey realized the need for dramatic improvements in ESD characterization techniques and decided to start her own company, White Mountain Labs. Dr. McCaffrey earned her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Arizona State University. Her dissertation was entitled; “A Methodology for Hot Carrier Reliability Assessment Through Reverse Modeling of Sub-micron Field-effect Transistors.” Dr. McCaffrey’s work was completed through the Arizona State University Center for Low Power Electronics, as well as Motorola, Inc.

In November 2007, Dr. McCaffrey was appointed to a 2-year term on the American Electronics Council (Arizona) Executive Committee.
